After taking IELTS, you will receive an official document called a Test Report Form (TRF).
So, what information does your TRF contain?
1. Your scores — the most important part!
Your TRF shows your score for each of the four language skills — Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking — as well as your overall band score.
Your overall score is shown on the IELTS 0–9 scale, along with its equivalent on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) scale, from B1 to C2. For example, if your overall score is 6, you will see B2 next to it.
2. The logos of the official IELTS partners
At the bottom of the TRF, you will see the logos of the three partners behind IELTS: British Council, IDP, and Cambridge English.
The logo for Ofqual — the government body that regulates qualifications — also appears at the top. Together, these organisations ensure the quality, consistency, and rigour of the test.
3. Your test type, date, and centre details
Your TRF will indicate whether you took Academic or General Training, as well as the centre code where you sat the exam. Certify Education & Assessment’s centre code is ES206.
It will also show your test date.
And no — IELTS certificates do not have an expiry date. How long your results remain valid depends on the organisation asking for them.
4. Your personal details and unique ID number
Your TRF includes your photograph and personal details, along with a unique reference number. Organisations can use this number to check your results through the IELTS online verification system and confirm their authenticity.
Paper or digital IELTS certificate?
IELTS results are provided digitally. Once your scores are ready, you can download your TRF as a PDF and save it to your device.
In exceptional circumstances, if an organisation cannot use the online verification system, Certify can print your TRF and send it directly to them.
